Quality of Euro Diesel in Tbilisi ??

Please, anybody of you, dear readers, which Euro Diesel can I fill without regret into my car ? I almost ruined my engine twice in the last three month because of strange behavior and unpredictable quality.

Is there any quality difference at all between the big chains like Wissol, Lukoil, Socar, Rompetrol, Eko and others, or does it all come from the same tube ?

What is your experience ? What would you recommend me ?

(My car has a 3.0 DI engine)

Interview with Ian Carver at Georgia Today

There is a nice interview with the traveler/adventurer Ian Carver: from Tbilisi to Kabul on Georgia Today

"GT: Ian, you do travel a lot. If you wanted to settle down somewhere, where would that be?

IC: I think it would be in Tbilisi. Now I consider Georgia to be more or less my home. I don’t really see myself living in the US any time soon. It is more interesting here and I think Georgians will choose a brighter future." read the full article here

He has some honest and straight views both on Georgia and Afghanistan and some brilliant fotos  to show on his site, like the mentioned Afghan Game horse with the huge neck

which seem to be close by type to the Karabair horses I saw in Uzbekistan, and these had been huge as well.

from "My Brief Foray into Tbilisi, Georgia"

"Backpacking is exhausting. Every minute of your waking hours is spent on high alert. In Homeland Security speak, that would be like, orange or red. Your brains are on constant over-drive, processing the new and constantly changing landscape and people. Because of your unfamiliarity with the environment, nothing is automated. Instead, every person and situation needs to be assessed and scrutinized." read further on the first part of a series by Dana on going to Georgia at http://www.investoralist.com/backpacking-through-turkey-georgia/

I'll be probably the whole Summer 2009 in Tusheti. As our Reunion 2008 because of the August war did not take place, I suggest we go instead this year to the Mountains, to relax, to get power, to discuss, eat, drink, to paint, to write, to make movies. On the right side is a poll you can vote, if you are interested, chat with me or send me an Email to kaukasus+tusheti@gmail.com Best regards, Hans

A love affair with Georgian lemons

One needs to taste a Georgian lemon from the Regions Adjara and Guria close to the Black Sea to know what a real lemon is. It's such an amazing aroma, an exhilarating scent you'll never forget. Georgian lemons look slightly different than "normal lemons" a bit greener, a colder yellow, the skin is more glossy. If you are in Georgia right now, lemons from Georgia could be a nice uncommon present to your beloved at Christmas ;-)

Cultural Sponsorship for the Contemporary Art Horse Thief Project Tbilisi

My ongoing project with about 60 works on the "Horse-Thief-Sayat-Nova-Street" theme was shown these days at Baia Gallery, Tbilisi. (28th March-1st April 2008)

The works are dealing with a half-fictional Horse Thief in the Old Town of Tbilisi, with Georgian traditions and with the recent changes in Georgian lifestyle. It has its romantic side, it has its post modernity and I try to put a new visual quality into these works.

Horse Thief Ruina, Digital Collage, Hans Heiner Buhr 2007

I want to publish a catalog booklet in color with an approximate size of 23 x 19 cm organizing the best 36 works of this project, opposing on each double page a Digital Collage with a Painting or a Drawing.

The production and print in a good quality in an edition of 500 copies costs in Tbilisi around 2000 USD in equivalent Lari.

I would like to ask potential cultural sponsors for cooperating on raising 50% of the overall costs and getting half of the printed edition where a smart logo or advertisement could be included.

If you or your company is interested in sponsoring the Horse Thief Sayat-Nova-Street Project partly or fully please contact me, Hans Heiner Buhr, via kaukasus@gmail.com
